The GeezerTreks Manifesto

Helping active travelers over 50 make smarter travel decisions.

We geezers and near-geezers are not quite ready for the rocking chair.

We still want real adventures — just without the nonsense.

We’re not looking for canned 7-day, 6-night vacations at fenced-off, all-inclusive resorts, where the drinks are weak, the beer is lukewarm, and the soundtrack sounds like reggae and Latin funk got into a bar fight.

We also don’t want to climb off a packed bus, follow some guy with an umbrella and a headset through the Louvre or the Tower of London, then climb back aboard and return to a forgettable chain hotel.

We may be done with backpacking. We are not done with adventure.

GeezerTreks is for travelers who want authentic experiences, practical advice, honest reporting, and trips that are smartly planned but still full of surprise.

We want to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste the real treasures of a place. We want city markets, neighborhood taverns, mountain trails, local music, working harbors, old cathedrals, wild coastlines, and food made by people who live there.

We’re in shape enough to walk through city bazaars and waterfall-laden rainforests — maybe even both in the same day. We may move a little slower than we used to, but we’re also wiser, more curious, and less interested in wasting time on bad travel.

The road is still rising up to meet us. The unknown is still out there, just beyond the horizon.

Our best travel is not behind us.

It’s ahead.

About Tripp & Kris

We founded GeezerTreks to encourage older travelers to make the most of the best time of their lives, promoting smart travel and better trips. GeezerTreks provides the very best advice on treks beyond 50: What’s worth and what isn’t, which gear and clothing to invest in, and how to remain fit and ready for adventure. We believe the best years of life come in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond, when we are still curious, still adventurous, still desirous of global travel, exotic destinations, colorful landscapes, and thrilling cultural experiences.
